We're More Than Music
Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin
We start guitar lessons with students as young as 8 years old, usually in 2nd or 3rd grade.
Between the ages of 8 and 12, children have the physical, mental, and emotional maturity to excel in musical studies. However, it is never too late to start studying music.
It’s never too late to enjoy music. It’s really not about how old you are, it’s about your level of commitment. The progress that you make is directly related to the amount of effort you put in.
If you plan on eventually playing both acoustic and electric guitar, you should start with acoustic. Playing the acoustic guitar requires more finger strength. Starting your lessons with the acoustic guitar will let you build the muscles needed, and you will be able to smoothly transition to electric guitar later.
The Mannington Music School has a very limited number of guitars in different sizes available for short term rental. However, we prioritize rental for Instrument Explorer students, so availability is limited. We have one bass for rental. If you wish to study banjo, mandolin, or ukulele, you will need to provide your own instrument.
We recommend visiting a good music store like Woodstown Music (25 N Main St, Woodstown). The knowledgeable employees there will help you find the right size instrument for your child or yourself, and you’ll be able to sit down with the instrument and make sure it feels right.
A student should aim to practice 20-30 minutes a day. The more time you put into playing at home, the faster progress you will see.
One 30-minute lessons costs $25. You will receive one lesson every week. Lessons are billed monthly and pre-paid by the first of every month.
